Norbert began his career in 1988 as an English language teacher in Japan and quickly became interested in the many aspects of how language is learned and used.
During his career as professor at the University of Nottingham, he consulted worldwide on language curricula, assessment, textbook development, and teacher education. He has researched extensively, publishing more than ten books and over 100 research articles. Since his retirement in 2019, he continues to write on linguistic topics, but is spending more time playing guitar, flying his homebuilt airplane, and playing hockey.
His background and publications can be found on his personal website.
